GoPaw Canada › For providers
Become a GoPaw Canada provider
Independent pet-care work across Canada. You set your prices, choose your jobs, and keep your own policy.
Status: GoPaw Canada has not launched. Bookings are closed and provider sign-up is closed. This page describes how the service is built and what it will require. Nothing on this page is an offer of service.
GoPaw Canada is a marketplace for independent pet-care providers working across Canada, outside Quebec. Provider sign-up is not open yet. This page explains what joining will involve, so you can decide now whether it is for you.
What you need before your first booking
- A commercial general liability policy — $2,000,000, with animal bailee cover of at least $10,000 per animal on the same policy. The policy is in your own name. It is yours, not ours, and it stays with you.
- A criminal record check and identity verification, completed before your first booking.
Both are your cost, as they would be for any independent business. Budget roughly $400 to $800 for the first year. GoPaw Canada does not recommend insurers and takes no commission from any of them — where you buy is your choice.
What stays yours
| Decision | Who makes it |
|---|---|
| Your prices | You. No floor, no ceiling, no mandatory suggested rate. |
| Which bookings you take | You. Declining a booking carries no penalty — not to your acceptance rate, not to your ranking, not as a fee. |
| Working on other platforms, or off-platform | You. There is no exclusivity. |
| Your hours and your service area | You. |
| Your own business registration and taxes | You. Providers on GoPaw Canada are independent businesses, not employees. |
What you will need to supply
- Government photo identification, for identity verification.
- Consent to an enhanced criminal record check.
- Your Social Insurance Number. This is not optional and not a GoPaw preference — the Canada Revenue Agency's Part XX reporting rules for digital platform operators have required it since 2024. It is encrypted at rest, masked everywhere it is displayed, and never written to a log.
- A municipal kennel licence, if you intend to offer licensed kennel stays and your municipality issues one.
- Commercial auto insurance, if you intend to offer veterinary transport.
The eight services you can offer
Dog walking (30 and 60 minutes), hourly pet care, licensed kennel stays, full grooming, nail trims, training sessions and veterinary transport. You choose which of them you offer.
When sign-up opens
Provider sign-up opens when GoPaw Canada launches. Until then there is nothing to apply to and no queue to join ahead of anyone. If you want to be told when it opens, email [email protected] with the city you work in and the services you offer.
We will not add you to a marketing list, and we will not pass your address to anyone.
